When I started to crowdfund for my new book, I didn’t think I would raise the money. It’s hard to go ahead when you think like that. Its not just about me, it’s about letting other people down too. I almost pulled out. It would be so much easier not to try, to play safe.
I think about that a lot. In a way that’s what the new book is about, not playing safe. On one level it’s a mystery, on another it’s about people doing what they really want to do in their heart of hearts … being inventive, hopeful, pulling together to survive.
With three days to go of the crowdfund campaign, 97.6% is now raised. That’s £2,440 of the £2,500 goal. It was worth trying. If three more people reserve a book at £20.00 each, or six people reserve an e-book at £10.00, the publishers at Arkbound will bring in an editor to work with me on the text. They will also bring in a cover designer. I’m hoping to persuade the designer to include an image by artist Luna North, an image which I absolutely love and which has captured the spirit of the book for me.
And then the book will be published, in 2024.
Three days to go. I will be glad when the crowdfund campaign is over, it’s been a tough one and I feel like there are easier ways to grow old. But its worth picking up a few scars. We still have dreams … for the future … for the children. These dreams go back in time and forward in time and the future goes way beyond our own lives. Caring about the future is what drives me these days. Whatever happens, I’ve put my whole heart into it.
